Improving Student
Experiences at Runshaw
College with Next Generation
Wi-Fi from Extreme Networks
Introduction
With 5000 students welcomed daily, Runshaw college is a hub of student activity and engagement, from a quiet campus to a bustling place of learning every day,
Runshaw was looking to modernise its current infrastructure to improve the Wi-Fi solution, ensuring a seamless and future-proofed digital experience for student
The Challenge
Located in an idyllic area of the UK countryside near Leyland, Lancashire, Runshaw College boasts a large campus of 14 buildings, meaning a robust, secure and efficient network was a must for serving the 5000 students attending daily.
With a team of sixteen, the IT team at Runshaw was looking for ways to upgrade and improve the Wi-Fi network and ways to deliver automation and simplify and reduce the management of the network.
- Ageing legacy hardware prohibited the desired outcomes meaning that modernisation of the Wi-Fi network was required.
- Common to many educational institutions, budget constraints and ROI were a key factor in decision making.
- With increased cyber threats, security was key consideration, improving security posture and protecting student data.
