The successful applicant will carry out a critical role in the support and development of our Cloud portfolio.

The role is wide ranging and includes building out and supporting key IT infrastructure, consisting of VMWare, SAN, WAN and LAN components. Security Services are becoming a key part of the Fournet offering and a strong understanding of these technologies is also key to the role.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide Group staff with 2nd line Infrastructure/Security/Network support.
  • Support and implement any new hardware including IT systems, Networking, and software.
  • Monitoring and maintaining Infrastructure Systems and networks.
  • Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults.
  • Replacing equipment parts as required.
  • Providing support, including procedural documentation.
  • Administration of backups, antivirus, and security system.
  • Updating and installing systems.
  • Managing many open support cases at one time.
  • Support and implement any new hardware including IT systems, Networking, and software.
  • Liaise with third party suppliers and support staff
  • Provide out of hours’ support on a Rota basis to consist of no more than 1 week in 4.
  • To undertake other duties of an appropriate nature in consolidation with the Line Manager.

Person Specification

  • Familiar with Network Administration of LAN environment
  • Significant experience in data centre infrastructure design / implementation
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems for server and workstation environment.
  • Good general understanding of current information and telephony technology
  • Good awareness of information and data security.
  • Flexible with regards to working hours and can quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • Evidence of using initiative and ability to work independently.
  • VMware accreditations / knowledge (ESXi, vCentre, Clustering, High Availability, DRS vRealise, Update Manager, Hardening, Storage Integration, Extensive Trouble Shooting experience)
  • Are enthusiastic, proactive, and keen to learn with a hands-on mentality.
  • Qualifications in Computer Sciences or IT / Telecommunications are desirable.
  • Can be flexible to your working environment

Technical Profile

  • Understanding of Windows Server Operating Systems 2019 onwards including Active Directory, WSUS, SMTP, File Services, and NPS.
  • Knowledge of Extreme Networks, general Networking and Fortinet products
  • Understanding of WAN networking including MPLS and SD-WAN
  • An understanding for networking to include TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, Sub netting, VLAN 802.1Q, Wireless 802.11 B/G/N/AC
  • Documentation and technical drawing for network design
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP protocol and ISO/OSI model
  • Knowledge of cloud-based solutions including Azure, O365.
  • Understanding of storage systems and protocols (NFS/CIFS/iSCSI/FC)
  • Virtualisation concepts using VMware implementation and management skills
