A Great Day in a Historic Setting

Situated on the south side of the Strand in central London, overlooking the River Thames, Somerset House is a large Neoclassical complex built on the site of a Tudor palace originally belonging to the Duke of Somerset. Refurbished by Sir Christopher Wren in 1685, Somerset house has been used for various purposes, including the office for the Navy. It is now a working arts centre, home to the UK’s largest creative community and one of London’s best-loved public spaces.
