2nd Line Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and proactive 2nd Line Infrastructure Support Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support, maintaining the infrastructure, and resolving escalated issues from the 1st line support team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide L2 escalation support, diagnose and resolve data centre and network infrastructure technology incidents.
  • Act as escalation point for internal and customer related incidents.
  • Provide support, guidance and advice to other team members including procedural documentation.
  • Coordinate with customer network and technical staff.
  • Support all core technologies including security, LAN, WLAN, WAN, VMware, SAN Storage, authentication, and identify services.
  • Replacing equipment parts as required. Provide onsite and remote support as needed
  • Liaise with 3rd party suppliers and support staff
  • Managing/supporting the support case queue.

We’re looking for someone with the following technical profile…

Technical Profile:

  • Proven experience as a Network or Infrastructure Engineer in a medium to large-scale enterprise.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Fortinet products, particularly FortiGate firewalls.
  • CCNA certification (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
  • Proficiency in managing VMware environments (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter).
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
  • Experience with VPNs (IPSec, SSL), SD-WAN, and network segmentation.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure).
  • Veeam.
  • FortiNet NSE 4.
